If you are a company, I want to let you know that my art and designs are available for licensing for your products! Just email me at Kate.art@email.cz
My name is Katerina Holloman and I come from Kojetin, Czech republic.
I mostly paint with acrylics and watercolor, but I also enjoy illustration and hand lettering. I most love portraits of people and animals, abstract art and occasionally a landscape.
When I attended school, I took extra-curricular classes at the Arts and Music Academy. Later I studied at a very art-encompassing hight school.
I graduated from Fashion Design and after school I worked as a graphic designer / illustrator at a small company in Brno, CZ.
For a few year I had illustrated a children's insert in a Czechoslovak magazine. In the beginning season of my profession I illustrated a children's book "Caterpillar Philomena and other stories by Miss Magda" and other printed materials.
During my years as a stay-at-home mom I also had the great opportunity to get published with the same company I worked for before, and my original adult coloring book about motherhood and family "Treasure of the heart" sold out within a month and a half! That made me very happy and since I self-published several more publications through Amazon's KDP - coloring books and children's books.
I attended a few shared exhibitions, whether group or pair:
2002 - Vsetín, CZ
2005 - Kroměříž, CZ
2006 - Nové Město na Moravě, CZ
2007 - Prague, CZ
2012 - Wilmington, DE, USA
2023 - Kroměříž, CZ - solo exhibition in my own art studio
2024 - Kroměříž, CZ - sales exhibition in a local restaurant
My paintings, including custom work, are decorating walls not only in the Czech republic and Slovakia, but also Germany, England, the Netherlands, Switzerland and USA (Florida, California, Tennessee, Alabama and more).
Since my childhood I have focused primarily on portraits and my first inspiration came from Disney and Alfons Mucha. In the last couple of years I have gone through a sort of deconstruction in my art that has reflected hardship in my life. Abstraction has been key for internal processing and moving forward.
A lot of my artwork now is semi-abstract expressionism.
I am slowly returning to illustrative portraiture but these last couple of years have influenced my style.
I believe that art serves great purposes for the outpouring of the soul as well as to be a messenger to the viewers.
Some of my art reflects my personal journey of healing from trauma and slowly opens topics that are often taboo, while other artworks share messages of beauty and encourage people in their own lives.
I want my paintings to mostly carry the message of hope and perseverance. Whether by a specific subject painted or by their story.
I want my work to serve as a reminder of important things that will encourage people toward forward living.
Outside of building my art career, as a mother of two I take care of my children and work towards our future, and I enjoy hobbies such as: nature walks, photography and videography, playing the piano and singing, original music composition, crafting with kids, and spending time with God in the Bible and prayer.
All of these things form who I am as a person and an artist.
